About the Event

Course Description

This course defines intimate partner abuse and relationship violence, identifies and explains the power and control tactics used in domestic violence, explores the batterer attitudes and effects of abuse on all affected parties, and reviews the prevalence of domestic violence. Additionally, treatment goals and interventions are practiced through discussion of case scenarios, as well as a review of relevant local and online resources pertaining to domestic violence.

Course Objectives

Participants will:

  • Define intimate partner abuse and relationship violence
  • Differentiate between DV and Anger Management
  • Identify and explain power and control tactics used in DV
  • Identify and assess Batterer Attitudes
  • Understand the effects of DV on batterers, victims, and children
  • Understand the prevalence and incidence of relationship abuse/violence
  • Develop individualized treatment goals for batterers and victims
  • Become familiar with local and online resources for DV batterers and victims
